The accelerated digital transformation of contemporary society is generating profound changes in the regulatory architecture, in the mechanisms for enforcing the law, and in the relationship between individuals and authorities. The digitization of administrative processes, the use of artificial intelligence in decision-making, the automation of contracts and the expansion of virtual space raise fundamental questions about the balance between legal efficiency and the protection of human values.
      In the context of the development of emerging technologies and the consolidation of the European regulatory framework — including through European Union initiatives on data protection and artificial intelligence regulation — the law is called upon to redefine the traditional parameters of responsibility, transparency, and the guarantee of fundamental rights. 
      Legal efficiency in a digitalized society must not be achieved at the expense of human values. A genuine rule of law in the digital age requires “legal literacy” and technologies that work as allies of human expertise, ensuring that fundamental rights are protected not only in theory but also in digital practice.
      The theme of the conference aims to explore the tension and complementarity between fundamental human values and the demands of legal efficiency in a digital ecosystem. It provides an appropriate conceptual framework for theoretical reflections, normative analyses, and case studies on the adaptation of law to new technological realities.
